Well, it's Not the Antikythera Mechanism, But It's Still Pretty Cool

Writing about the Ank Mech made me think about other cool gadgets...

On this day in 2001, Apple released the first iPod.

As someone who spend a lot of time traveling on airplanes, etc., I must tell you that the iPod has had more of a personal impact on my life that the Antikythera Mechanism's ability to predict astronomical positions ever would.

Anyway, here's the first iPod TV commercial, touting it's ability to hold 1,000 songs (!). Remember?

That made me remember the first Mac TV commercial. I think it ran during the SuperBowl in 1984. Clever (as Apple ads always are) because it played on the whole George Orwell 1984 thing. BTW, in the interest of full disclosure, I am a Mac fanatic (don't make me touch your vile Vista!) so I remember this with fondness and devotion:

BTW, it's Friday, I'm tired and I've done a lot of writing this week. Posting a couple of historical Apple ads is all I've got today...
